My Favourite Things: canadian style

Sung to the tune of My Favourite Things from Sound of Music:

Timbits from Tim Hortons and Camping on Beaches
Picking fresh blueberries and bright coloured Gumboots
Singing Oh Canada in English and French
These are a few of my favourite things

Dum Dum, Dum Dum

Having a Prime Minister and shopping at Lulu lemon
Eating Cheezies with Grandma and knowing what a toque is
Using an umbrella 12 months of the year
These are a few of my favourite things

When the mosquito bites, When the wasp stings
When I am wet and damp
I simply remember my favourite Canadian things
And then I don't feeeeeeel sooooo bad!!

The Boppy

I have to admit something; I love my Boppy. I can't nurse without it and lately it comes in the truck with me if I have to head out somewhere and think that Noah will get hungry. But there is one thing that sort of bothers me about it. If you have one you may have seen that little symbol on the tags, the one with the word sleep and a big red circle with a line through it. Now I know that it means that you should not use it for sleeping but in the early morning hours when you are so exhausted and trying to nurse your son that little symbols looks more like a warning:
If you need a boppy there will be no sleep, we will even go as far as to put a symbol saying....No sleep allowed. Cruel isn't it??

Noah

Two weeks have gone by and I realize that I have posted no new news about our baby Noah! Well here it is!

He has arrived! Our son, Noah Robert Cassaday, was born bright and early Sunday, May 18 at 3:48 am. He arrived via a C-section and after two days of labour we were very ready to have him arrive. I had a completely different picture of how the whole event would happen, mainly no C-section, but in the end once upon hearing his first cry I was just thankful he had arrived safely.

Once I was all put back together (seriously I had no idea that my parts came outside of my body until one of the nurses said to me: now they are putting your uterus back...what???) and in the recovery room it was time to really meet our son! Kelly crashed out on one of the recovery room beds while I cuddle our son and watched him get his first bath! We soon were moved to a room on the postpartum floor and then the fun began!!

I won't go into all the details of my next few days in the hospital. I will say this though, I had no idea that I could function with no sleep and I do mean no sleep! I had four nights total in the hospital and all together I may have slept one to two hours each night; which may have been why I decided to leave a day early. I practically begged the nurses to let me go home on Tuesday because I was exhausted! Thankfully all was well with me and baby and they let us go! We strapped our little bundle into his car seat, I was wheeled out to our vehicle, we put Noah in the car seat carrier and we were off! Incidentaly our little one screamed the whole way home...so much for a calm homecoming! There we were two brand new parent's sweating in the front seat while our three day old son gave us a good preview of his cry. The adventure had begun!
